An experienced and accomplished executive and leader, Steve works with CEOs and executive teams to deliver value during times of transition.

Steve is the Principal of SJW Associates and a partner with EPA Consultants.  As an executive coach and a consultant to CEOs and leadership teams in the field of organisational change, leadership development and safety transformation, Steve has the rare advantage of having deep personal insight into business needs based on his experience as a CEO and strategist, during which time he created sustainable customer and capital value, as well as his deep knowledge and experience of Human Resources, Change Leadership, and Learning Systems.  

He brings a unique perspective to CEOs, which encompasses both the structural and technical requirements to boost performance as well as the sensitivity to the cultural, human and group dynamics needed to to release human energy behind vision, goals and values.

Steve’s 28-year corporate career spanned the mining and consumer goods industries. In both Anglo American and SABMiller he held Chief HR Officer roles and in SABMiller his experience has included the MD role in two operations in South Africa and the CEO role for their Romanian, Slovakian, Exports and Czech operations, the latter being one of their largest profit centres for the business. Additionally he has held senior roles as head of Corporate Strategy and Corporate Learning and Development.
He has led due diligence and M&A projects both small ($30m- $100m) and large ($1bn - $7bn) and led corporate wide learning and IT projects in support of economies of scale and skill.
His most recent corporate role was that of Chief Human Resources Officer for MillerCoors during which time he was a leader of the $8bn merger of the Miller and Coors Brewing Companies.

He is a Faculty Member, teaching Leadership, Organizational Behavior and International Business, at the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, and serves as a volunteer on their Business Advisory Council.
He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Trident Academy, a school for children with learning differences.
He is an Executive Consultant to SAFEmap International a leading safety consultant to the mining, energy and power distribution industries. He holds postgraduate qualifications in the disciplines of Education, Labour Relations and Marketing and has an MBA from Brunel University, London.

Steve lives with his family in Charleston, South Carolina, USA.
